The «Innere Enge» can tell a very remarkable story. Since 1803 it has belonged to the Bern Burgergemeinde. First there was the “Viererhaus” (four’s house) above the Aare hill. Soon the view of the Alps attracted the Bernese and in the 18th and 19th century a place of entertainment arose here, the quality of which was even pronounced as far as Empress Joséphine. In 1810, the famous “Grand-Déjeuner” was served to none other than her – the wife of Napoleon, who was already divorced at that time.
Finally, in 1865/66, the burger built a new building with restaurant and two large halls on the first floor: today’s Hotel Innere Enge.

In 1991, the Burger family handed over the inner narrowness of the building code to Hans Zurbrügg and Marianne Gauer, who were both married to Hans Zurbrügg and Marianne Gauer. The following year, the converted building will be opened as a four-star superior hotel with the Marians Jazzroom, which is now world-famous.

Something special at any time of the year! Slightly elevated in the middle of an 8’000 m2 hotel park, the property seduces you to pause and linger. The Parc Café has homemade cakes and if you like you can spend your time playing miniature golf. On a large terrace, barbecues and salads are served on warm days, as well as business lunches. A stay in the Marians Jazzroom is an absolute must for a concert.

Either way, the Inner Enge with its fantastic view of the Bernese Alps and the city of Berne is inviting.  The view from the rooms is spectacular, with a choice of views of the greenery, the Alps or the city of Bern, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
